STRATEGY --
The Innovation Lab is the leading research hub of the entire site. The scientific research lab is dedicated to the scientific analysis and discovery of new architectural and building materials that will benefit the environment. Taking inspiration from the research conducted at the MIT Research Lab and studies by Neri Oxman. This space is encased in the ETFE Foil, to emphasise the uniqueness of the space.

OBJECT SCALE --
Bespoke Joinery - Holographic study pod, offering a 3-dimensional insight into research. The private holographic pod is an innovative technologically driven pod, built from recycled plastic.
Research by Sebastian Cox has influenced the design of this Mushroom Mycellium pendant light, that was created within the scientific research lab.
Australian designer Joslin Koolen has designed “illuminated lines” an LED task lighting system that creates a sense of connection and unity.
Collaborative collection of seating unique to the innovation lab - the seating by Australian designer Tom Fereday is a unique twist to his “shell chair”. The innovative chair is built from bio-concrete.
ARTIFICIAL LIGHTING STRATEGY --
Experimenting with lighting within the innovation lab is important and is something that the scientific research lab is passionate about. Lighting within this space includes task, concealed and decorative lighting in the form of pendant, recessed and wall lighting. With a mix of yellow and white LED lighting to allow purpose and intrigue within the space. LED is the suitable lighting solution as they use 75% less energy when compared to incandescent lighting. The energy used by all lighting within the site, will be generated through solar panels that will be fixed to the roof of the Boiler House.
